What is a postpartum Doula and what she does:

One can define a postpartum doula as a non medically trained professional who works together with new mothers, their babies, and their families during the initial period after birth. They provide physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother, her babies, and her family during the postpartum period

Helping mother’s by providing appropriate care for their newborns when they leave the hospital is the main role for Postpartum Doulas in society. Postpartum Doulas are trained to assist families during the postpartum period, which is the first few months after delivery. They promote the general health of mothers and their babies, and whenever possible, that of their family, friends, and community as well. The period after childbirth can be very difficult for new mothers. Sometimes we take after hospital care for granted but it can be hard for new mothers to understand the needs of their newborns and how to manage their care
